Anyone got any decent data for the long runs? I seen some other day with Ver/Per Ham/Rus and had the mercs something like 1.8s faster.

The RB's in this era havent been epic in qualifying. The setups are more towards the race pace.

Looking forwards to the sprint later tonight to see what happens. I have a feeling the sprint quali grid will be very similar to tomorrows GP, just with Max P1 or P2.

RB gonna pull the one stopper masterclass on everyone
I know you're cheeky here but I doubt it.

I think the thought process in this thread over the last couple of pages has led to an incorrect notion that RB are going for an extra-ordinary tyre preserving setup.

We saw the high downforce package and in particular RW and speculated about tyre perseveration.
But then, when the car hit the track in qualifying, we saw their high ride hide.

I think its as simple as they cannot for whatever reason run low and get consistent performance and thus are forced to run higher, and remedy the lack of floor-produced suction with a larger rear wing and/or beam wing.

It also makes sense that as a consequence they cannot quite match that rear load with the front wing so the car struggles a bit with understeer.

I think Red Bull are just dealing with a track-specific weakness as well as they can, and will have their usual top-class tyre performance, but nothing out of the ordinary.

I watched some of the highlights of past races here. P6 is a wretched starting spot.

Verstappen's deleted "pole" lap. Actually apart from T1 and whole track limits thing it was a solid lap. Looking at leclercs onboard, his lap was actually worse and with more errors, but was still enough to put him on pole. I dont think RB had raw underlying pace for pole.

I think it was close. But Ferrari running a lot less DF so not surprised they were quickest over a single lap

I think rb19 is not as compromised as the team lets on for this track. The higher height could all be experimental. They have both championships and a big pace advantage, s9 they might as well experiment woth ride heights and set ups for the remaining races.

Checo said that they started off completely wrong but they had some test stuff to do in his interview yesterday. Only caught glimpses in the background but it was along those lines.

I think they are setting up a higher ride height to help mitigate bumps and protect the rears from deg with the circuit and heat for this weekend. Running a little higher and softer should help.

1 lap pace will suffer. Race pace will be fine.

What has changed. Even Perez looks decent. Are they just really good on the mediums and bad on the softs?

Verstappen likely damaged that set of mediums with spin in Q2 though....Good thing he has 4 sets.

He'll never recover :)

In all seriousness, that was a productive session?

On the medium, the car looked fine in the low speed. Car was finally stopping and turning in T1.

Once he got the soft, he did struggle again in T1 but it wasn't as bad as yesterday. There are no soft tires for the rest of the weekend so I'd say they have prepared for the correct tires.

The RB on mediums looked a lot better from the onboards we seen from others in quali today.
