Williams might be the place to be in a few years time if James Vowles gets a free hand to have what he needs.
I think it will take a lot longer than a few years to get the infrastructure that Williams need to compete nearer the front

It has to be done within the cap excluded spending allowance, all the while the top teams will also be advancing their infrastructure. Renault have the same problem - not enough investment into infrastructure prior to the budget cap
There may be something to putting 90% of the budget into infrastructure over the next 2 years, and just minimum update the 2023 chassis with a new one in 2026.

Maybe if it becomes farcical enough, they will be allowed some catch-up spend.

Mercedes draws hope: they finally understand the ground effect underbody
"What the barge boards were between 2017 and 2021, the underbody is for the aerodynamicists today. And this is where the engineers in Brackley are beginning to understand what's going on: "It looks like things are going in the right direction. We make parts and we can use them immediately in the race. We're not constantly swapping the update packages and guess if we did the right thing. Nevertheless, we are of course not in the position we were in with the 2021 regulations, where we had everything under control very, very well," Shovlin emphasized. The change in the side pods is paying off, even if you don't always see it in the development race: "It's hardly possible to measure progress because all teams are progressing so quickly [in development, ed.]"

Worrying it took them over 2 years to get something by to correlate in the simulator.

Regardless of zero pods or not, the correlation should still be there

We've heard it before. "We now understand porpoising" comes to mind. Unless it comes in the shape of results on track I wouldn't put much stock into what this team says.

When they said they fixed porpoising, they fixed it. So I don’t follow.

I don’t know how anyone expects it to show via results on the track short of the fact that they keep racing the parts they bring. They’re not going to close up a ~.5s gap to RB in race trim. No team has, no matter how dramatic their upgrades have been.

Special livery for Zandvoort? I'm imagining some orange highlights like endplates, wheel covers etc

They hardly fixed it. The infamous Canadian GP TP meeting was several races after Spain where those comments were made. Baku was two races after Spain, you know that race where Lewis' a** got a big workout in.

What I expect is them to be closer to RB, those are the only results we're interested in. We've seen AMR and McL make huge leaps in performance. Merc have been largely stagnant around 6 tenths behind RB since the start of 2022. It's all talk from this team, trying to keep their fanbase engaged.

Just because the team say they understand something or know how to fix it, doesn't mean that will be on the car immediately, or even in a few weeks. Sometimes it can take months to see results.

Well if you are referring to last year the comment was made following a race where they brought upgrades designed to alleviate porpoising, and they didn't porpoise that race. But then the races after the problem was worse than ever. So it was not in reference to some future upgrade. They were saying they had it solved, and they didn't.

Not to mention the cost cap, adds in more complexity that needs to be accounted for.

As the saying goes…. If you can’t beat them, join them.

I wonder if the colour name is ‘Verstappen Orange’
