Red Bull RB9 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

It isn't. Just search for pics where you can see the beam wing from the other side. No hole in any of the pictures. What you are referring to is reflections from the metal plate they mounted on both sides of the beam wing. It's there since first Barcelona test.

/edit 2
Here you can see the metal plates in the beamwing without any hole:

Maybe those metal plates contain the beamwing DRD trigger...
I disagree, I think that picture shows the channels. You can actually see the hole between the endplate and the metal plate on the beam wing and see the tarmac through it:

Thats how I interpret it, at least!
Ok, we'll have to disagree on that point then. My theory is that they are checking the flow (of among other things on the beam wing) the tiny double element part that they are running next to the endplate, and that is why they have flow viz there.

I'm guessing the way the inlets split under the exhaust ramp, one of them feeds it. Either that or it pulls air from the engine intake or the sidepods.

Interesting. I wonder what this will hold. Mind you I don't expect anything as last year's RB8-B
