OK there's no public domain evidence pointing to anybody aside from that one MI5 guy, but a job like this was definately not an after-school project for him and his wife. And something tells me the NOTW may make one hell of a financial loss on the story....
So who paid for it? Who set it up?
I think this goes a lot deeper than we know.
The girl set him up for tabloid $$$. Simple as that. Just look at the article that appeared a week later in NotW interviewing her. That it was all well orchestrated in advance is only due to the fact that they had sufficient notice as to when and where.
NotW has little to fear from the courts. All they have to do is hint that the presiding judge (or his family) could be next if they don't see things their way. I am not kidding either. Just look at the history of these type of cases. If there is ever a settlement it is always for a relative pittance. Certainly far less than the tabloid made over the whole mess. What make Max think he is any different?
Get ready for the full 5 hour version to be leaked onto the internet. It is inevitable. The timing will tell everything. If it happens relatively soon, I would say that the leak came from one of the disgruntled clubs and they want to keep up the pressure. A birdie told me there is ritualistic male pubic shaving (for lice) and an enema before you know what. And lots more German!
If the tape comes out at a time convenient to the defense of NotW, I would guess they were the source. Either way, since the clubs all have copies (nearly 200 of them?), it will be hard to prove who the leaker is since they all have plausible deniability with so many copies in circulation. But mark my words, it is only a matter of time. This is not good for F1.
I am still waiting to see how Bernie and CVC can spin this. "Business as usual for F1" is my guess but that will be a hard sell. With groups already splintering off and a disgraced weakened figurehead, I fail to see the requisite stability to attract, retain and grow sponsorships. 7 out of 10 teams are on the record also. We can say that the FIA had its chance today and blew it. Now God only knows what will happen but it can't be good. Max has always put himself before F1, the teams, and the general good of motorsport. Let's see what good it does him.
