Driver of the day was Hamilton. He drove superbly, overtook many high profile drivers. Some say he can't save his tyres. You say he should save his tyres, and then go complain there's no overtaking. Well, somethings gotta give. For me F1 isn't about saving tyres. It's about who can go fastest and display more skill.
Ditto...I'll take a tyre recking machine that overtakes and gets up the field than a tyre conserving guy comfortably idling around with the rest of the pack. Not that I think he's a tyre recking machine, btw. People blow that out of proportion.

Senna esque i tell you. I would dare say his over takes are best all time, especially under the circumstances of the regulations. It's good for the sport; he deserves a special compensation from Bernie for the show :)
His tyres were ok as well, could have went on to pass massa and get at least third. His tyres were far from wrecked, they were better than Alonso's and Massa's by far and the went on to finish well.

to bad LH couldn't get by Kub, Fred or Felipe when it mattered.

ultimately, LH cried like a baby on the radio when he realized he wasn't going to pass Fred, he knew it, the team knew it and Webber even knew it which is why he tried the dive at the end.

"I also think it's worth praising the extremely valuable contribution of ExxonMobil in this race: their engineers and chemists have done a fantastic job over the winter to provide us with a set of fuel and lubricants that really set the standard in Formula 1; their performance, efficiency and reliability played a crucial role in our victory today"

anyone know of any updates on this? have they come up with a fuel that weighs less? or better performance/fuel efficency?

YES its called AD vertise its all the rage gives 5mpg on the urban cycle for maca

At least the race was better than Bahrain.

Actually, the race had it all, rain, overtaking a Ferrari charge and Hamilton messing up and having a hissy fit yet again.

I have to wonder, if Button can make a call on his tyres then why can't Hamilton? I feel that he is trying to pass the blame for his mess up onto another mechanic. If Button had no tyre problems, then why did Hamilton?

Either way, don't know why Webber apologised for their coming together. I wasn't his fault.

I can't believe in coincidences there though. It could be brake cooling or something else that has caused it, and the engine issues that Renault themselves don't seem to have could be packaging, cooling or something else. There's just too many of these things happening, and they've happened to them during winter testing as well.
You're right! It's because the brake rotor is right next to spark plug!

Can you talk like a mature man? The masses have called for more overtaking; yet when we get a good dose of it, people like you come out and discredit the driver largely responsible for it. If any man, in Lewis's situation, would have taken that wrong call to pit and its consequences lightly, then such a man has got a problem. I would have bitched too. As some will say, "get REAL!" It's about time people quit addressing proper, rightful, and warranted criticism as immature. Uneccessary diplomatism is boring and annoying. He cried!..I must have cried too then. And for Button, he deserves what he got for such a call and a nice composed drive to the finish.

To Button's credit he has more racing experience. I have only seen older drivers like Button and Alonso make those type of calls. None of the young drivers do this.
Button's call was easier to make as well. There was no way he was passing anybody in the wet, much-less his teammate.
Why are a few saying Hamilton had tyre problems?? :?
He clearly did not, that has been repeated by him and every one else.

Hamilton's anger was understood, not the worse i have heard on the radio. And if that spoilt your race or how you view his drive today, then he simply cannot please viewers who think like this. I wouldn't care if he threw the steering wheel like Vettel does all the time, he can do anything after a drive like that.

New forum rules people - We cannot say anything against Lewis Hamilton as he is the greatest driver EVER (if you ignore every other driver that has gone before). [-X

He is the one who can call the pitstops and tyres. It would appear that he didn't so he can't pin this on his team when they made a decision for him. It is his fault.

oh, well, he used 2 sets of slicks, remember? that's why they were better than Alonso's and Massa's by far, but he could not pass Fred, neither he passed Kubica....
Neither Massa nor Rosbers are known as very good defensive drivers, besides his car by far faster when he overtook them. But when he god Fred and Kubica ahead, he could do nothing, take it.

Maybe it is not coincidence in a sense that Newey pushed every part of the car to the edge of its performance envelope.

I hate that I have to do this. It is not the drivers job. It's easy for those of us who aren't racing but just looking at telemetry to see that it was a wrong call. A driver doesn't know what the rest of the field looks like and that is why they have race engineers. Sometimes, a driver makes a good call and even so he needs his engineer's support. Had Jenson's engineer refused his request for slicks, he'd have accepted. Hamilton should have been left alone to race or follow Kubica

I used to just watch F1. I have become a Hamilton fan because of his good driving and the unecessarly flack he catches. Tell me what Hamilton did wrong in the race. Accept his engineer's call to pit? Give me a break.

Anyway, there're more races to come. I know what i like in Hamilton's driving and I will look forward to more of it. Other drivers will give us thrills also in time.

After this race I see LH as a bit of a whiner and not a winner. He had radioed in that his tires were going off before they decided on another pit stop for a second set of slicks. What did he want to the crew to do about his tire complaint? And for chastising the team about WHILE THE RACE IS STILL ONGOING .. well that's just childish .. very small.

As for the incident with Webber, yes that was tough but I think that Webber had decided to follow Hamilton thru whenever LH made his attack. An attempt was just a matter of time. It could have worked for both of them except LH bailed midway thru the move. Webber was committed and bought the farm on that one. There just wasn't enough grip on the outside of that corner to make the move to begin with. Just one of them racin' deals.

But go whine like a little boy Lewis. That's a great way to build a fan base

But Button chose to stop for slicks. Whitmarsh has given Button all of the credit. So Hamilton could have made a call on tyres, he didn't so the team had to do it for him and things didn't work out. Instead of taking the view of a mature professional racer he acts like a spoilt brat over the radio.

I am fully aware of the driver and engineer relatationship and rule so I don't need to be patronised, thank you.

Hamilton did pleanty wrong in the race. He didn't make the right call on tyres (eventhough his teammate did), he burned up his tyres and when he couldn't get past Webber, turned in on Webber and took him out. Truely a drive of a champion(!). Worst thing is, Hamilton looses one place and Webber ends up 9th. Not exactly fair.
