Yeah, I alluded to this in the Group C thread, and it's probably been Toyota's biggest folly. It's mainly about staying out of the pits, and taking advantage of the more open front aero regulations. That means moving mass onto the front axle. The de facto solution is small ICE engines, gearboxes as light at possible, MGUs on the front axle, batteries in the tub, long wheelbases, and wide front tires. The TS030/040 aero balance was probably fine for it's F/R weight split, but moving to a configuration closer to their competitors will allow for more front downforce, and better tire longevity.Pierce89 wrote:The new Toyota looks sweet.
