Not sure of Albon, but FULL wet race would suit Max...to podium or better IMHO.

With a tight pack in front of him, rain and spray, with high risks.

With rain, good chance of a podium or limping around without a FW, with a bigger chance of loosing some essential body parts.

but we know Max is the better rain driver then 95% of the pack

Starting at the back of the grid, with all the spray, you can't see a thing ahead. Maybe you don't collide with anyone, but if there is an accident in front, you don't have any margin to react... Better taking first corners slowly, and then start the recovery (if it's a wet race, of course)

...100% IMHO, and I am NOT a Max fanboy...the Kid has rain skills.

You'd assume Max would bank another spec 4 engine tomorrow, no?
Why should he do that? During todays quali the PU switched to a safe mode, there was no failure or damage.
Why...good (sneaky) way to bank new, fresh parts for later in the year. There are rules to keep this from happening, but Horner is slippery (slippery enough to try anyway).
Are there rules to keep this from happening? I thought taking a fresh engine outside of your yearly allocation just meant a grid drop, but I could be wrong. I guess Honda would probably rather not do it because of all the haters out there that will give them grief for using so many engines in one season, and also they may have plans for a spec 5 later?

In the past McLaren and Mercedes mounted new powerunits on friday and saturday, to take a 60 place penalty and add both units to the poule. Rules prevent it now. They can only add one each weekend.

On Honda’s failsave, it only seems to be triggered if the engine is at high-power Q mode (partymode). No problem in the race.

interesting that this only happens to Verstappen though, and for the second week in a row. Does he have different engine modes available compared to the other three?!

Sorry guys but its not going to be raining. The best weather models show heavy rain till 1200 and then dry. So by race start at 300 after F2 race it will be bone dry.
For info: www.ventusky.com
Check precipitation hourly and look at high res view. Also see wind direction and cloud cover locally. This is very accurate model then the usual 20% rain accuweather model.

Looking at 2018 and comparing to 2019, it will be difficult to overtake here. Last year Max was about a second off from the Ferrari and Merc in quali. Yesterday all top 10 were within a second. I think Max will struggle to pass in first stint.

Its becoming clear why Gasly was not performing in RedBull. He had faster time in Q1 than Kvyat in Q2 and would have got in Q3 with that time easy. Max has all the top engineers and is the priority. Poor Alex was constantly driving in free air without slipstream all quali. The only time he had a slipstream was in Q3 when it was redflagged. Had Gasly still been in Redbull he would have kicked a massive whinge.

It's hard to come to the same conclusion, it's not clear at all regarding the quali of yeasterday why Gasly was weak in Redbull and Albon had less top engineers.
During Q1 and Q2 Albon had the ability to qualify without slipstream, so why take the risk. For me nothing wrong with his engineers at all.
At Q3 they choose to go out after everyone and chase during the out lap. they did it superbly, and without Kimi crash, Albon would qualify just behind the Merc. (P4).

Good luck for the team and for STR also.

what i think about the "Egnine problems" of Verstappen..... its a small game he plays
he is saying engine problem - no time set or only a few laps, as for yesterday... he knew he needed to start at the back, so why making more milage with that engine, but you need an good excuse so what do you say .... engine problem and at the end its just a failsave or sensor that was acting up .... and believe me they know how and when these sensors jumps in...

but thats my theory
