I'd just like to see some consistency in what the FIA says and what they actually do.

I mean I suppose hell will freeze over before that happens, but it's when something blatant happens, yet they do very little.

Watching the replay again, he would have had to go behind Button, and then try to pass again. There was still time to go for another overtake.
Yeah good luck with that... Button even lost time on corner exit by turning tighter than needed in order to give Vettel room. Vettel chose not to use that piece of track and just went even wider without needing to, going completely off the track. It should be clear cut but expect the FIA to fudge it.

Remember Hamilton's penalty in Spa 2008 where he even gave the place back but was adjudged to not have given it back sufficiently!

I agree.

It's a shame, I thought Jenson drove quite well up to that point. Even if he stays ahead, it's not a guarantee he finishes 2nd, but he would have had a much better chance of doing so.

That was my thought too, Vettel could have maintained the right side on track without going that wide.

The FIA won't do anything likely...probably will just be a reprimand and that's it. God forbid anyone else pulls that move, they'll get a 25 second penalty minimum.

With the stewards' messed up decisions during the last races (and in general) I predict the following:

Vettel will not get a punishment
Hamilton will get a 10 place grid penalty for ignoring blue flags 2x
Hamilton will get a reprimand for driving through debris deliberately
Maldonado will get a 5 place grid advantage for not crashing

You're right. I totally forgot about that clarification. In light of that, I think the gray area has just been erased here.

Because Hamilton was forced out of the track by Rosberg, while Vettel did that on his own to get better acceleration

Make that "anyone" Hamilton and a race ban is the minimum from FIA

*Hears plastic notes being exchanged again to the stewards with a few cases of energy drinks...erhmmm*

Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens...
If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

Schumacher hinting in post race interview towards some interesting developments coming .He was not prepared to be drawn further into the subject....but could it be he was talking about a clarification in terms of throttle maps??

Technically I think it is a penalty against Vettel, but he was faster and it was German GP, so I think everything will stay as it is.
Shame for Button, if anything was wrong with his strategy, it was maybe going after Alonso a bit to aggressively. But I'm sure every team would do the same in their place.

As for the championship, Ferrari are now a team to beat. Even if Red Bull is allowed their new thing in next races, everyone else can copy it, at the same time no one can copy Ferraris pull-rods at front.

RTL and especially Lauda are RedBull-Fanboys themselves. I wouldn't give them too much attention in that case. Hamilton did nothing wrong. If he is fast enough it's his right to relap himself...
