What is the excuse for Ricciardo today? It’s never his fault, so I’m curious what is it today
I mean he was 0.15 off his team mate in Q2- he fell just the wrong side of the fence of the top10 and was very close to coming through.
Landos Q3 lap was very good, a shame Dan Ricc didn’t get chance to perform in Q3 but certainly not an obvious underperformance from him here.
Looking forward to seeing him race tomorrow actually - car seems better
You can’t compare their laps in Q2… Lando aborted his last attempt, he was 3 tenths up on Daniel after S2 and in both Q1 and their first laps in Q2, Lando was 3 tenths faster in S3… The gap was anywhere between 4 tenths and 6 tenths (the gap in Q1, with Lando only doing one lap and without track evolution was already 7 tenths).
I’m afraid that Daniel wasn’t 0.15 from his team mate in Qualifying
Despite this, let's be grateful his lack of pace hasn't actually cost Daniel too many places this weekend. He will be starting P9 (clean side of the grid) on a track where the car has looked competitive so should be well placed to score points.
My biggest source of optimism for the rest of the season was Lando mentioning at the SkyPad how they seem strong in slow speed here which is very different to previous races. Hungary is the next track after all so I think the car is at least in a position to fight Alpine for 4th on an even footing (which wasn't the care prior to this upgrade).
Where do we think Lando will be able to finish tomorrow? I can't help but think the mercs will be too strong and Carlos will come through the field so perhaps 7th at best (barring any incidents)?
