Scuderia Ferrari SF15-T

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Kimmi apparently on track with old camera mounts and old front wing.
Wonder why he's using the old wing. Has he even tried the new one yet?
He did the race sim with the new front wing on.

And are my eyes deceiving me or are the camera mounts in the 'normal' place - I.e. The non Mercedes/Ferrari way?

Anyone can argument on the camera mounts aero function? Is it really just to put them "away" from crucial aero point by mounting them as high as possible, or they are trying to use them for other reasons?
This is the ideal thing you want above the nose. A sort of flow conditioner. The camera mounts are a far way off but putting them top the noses gives you a little bit of the same effect. The actual camera housing is horizontal that does nothing to enhance the flow so they try to put the
In the least disrupting locations.

Thanks, glad the new wing doesn't need a design rework or something...

Depends on the direction of the flow itself. Also, it should be parallel to the reference plane, no? Rake should induce some AoA on it.

Yup.
Compared to the wild Mustang that was the F14-T this Thing Looks about as stable and docile as it gets. I haven't seen the SF15-T kicking wildly a single time in the Videos I have seen so far. That's probably good News for both Kimi and Seb. I firmly expect (and hope) Kimi to fair much better this year with the SF15-T. He never seemed to get in tune with the F14-T while it looks so far quite harmonius with his new ride. For seb that is probably also good News. He never really got in tune with his previous ride, either. This could work better for him as well.
Would be interesting to know if the main difference in drivability between F14Tand F15T is due to Engine characteristics, Suspension geometry or Aerodynamics. I personally suspect a combination of mainly the first two aspects.

They used those lights at the last years test.

EDIT: Atleast i think it was Ferrari. I know that these lights were used by someone last year. I'll try to find some pictures.

No! There's some type of sensor on the edges of the diffuser

Or perhaps it is a light source for a camera filming rear tire behavior.

Don't they measure ride height aswell?

This is also good way to prevent pcs from diffuser

Imho they use highspeed camera and need the lights to brighten the dark Spot up.
