Dennis: "Firstly, effectively, we will still have as an offset the revenue from the points earned to date. That will effectively half the size of the cheque we have to sign, if we ultimately accept this fine.

"But as you can see if you read our accounts, we turn over roughly $450-500 million USD a year, and we are debt-free, so obviously we are a very strong company with phenomenal growth.

"I jokingly asked [Mercedes motorsport director] Norbert [Haug] if he was going to chip in half, but we haven't really come to a conclusion on that negotiation."

I don't know what anyone else thinks. But comments like this coming from a supposedly 100% innocent, party that has just been found GUILTY , fined $100 Million & stripped of all there WCC points does not sit right with me. To me it sound like someone who knows he got away with it and is going to take the lesser punishment gladly, but still cry foul so the McLaren honesty/ virtue myth & the Ferrari evil empire myth lives on.
If they don’t appeal the decision this just proves to me they are guilty………………………………….. Or are they so honourable, honest & beyond guilt they would not stoop down to Ferrari’s level.
Again please don’t make me laugh http://www.thepocket.com/wavs/moneypit3.wav

100 million is ridiculous. I've seen fines from Boeing violating several regulations and they are nowhere near triple digits. Charging that much money to a much smaller organizations... way too many bong hits in that meeting.

Well I'm stunted @ FIA's decision.
guys who are there on orkut , do read this
http://www.orkut.com/CommMsgs.aspx?cmm= ... 43&start=1

Mclaren and Ferrari fans fighting like anything before the verdict came out

I couldn't stop laughing

Catchy lines were as follows :
1.A Mclaren fan "Hurray, the most exciting championship has been decided in courts....

More reasons to celebrate, next year is going to be cakewalk for the prancing donkey"

2.Ferrari fan's reply"it seems u r mclaren fan........wht u r calling prancing donkey??????/

i think i hav to modify it

its ferrari= prancing horse

mclaren= struggling donkey"

3.Same Mclaren fan again "Have you forgotten Italy? Look at the pace of Ferrari, you would realise that it is not a horse but a donkey.

In fact in Italy, Mclaren could have taken all three positions on the podium..... "

My theory is that there will be a civil apeal and that McLaren will win. If that is the case then McLaren will still of course lose the FOM money. Which will efectively mean that this has been a slap on the wrist (damn hard slap none the less)
I do however think that this judgement and penalty is a load of bull crap.
I fail to see why the drivers were not penalised. I understand that they were to scared about the public outcry but if justice was the true motive of the inquest then the drivers should also have been penalised.

The most galling part is Ferrari stating that they are happy now. What a ridiculous thing to say, it makes me really hate them. If I ever have the need to buy a sub standard cheap car I would most definetly not buy a FIAT. Of course a Sporty Fiat or rather "prancing donkey" would not be a financial reality

This has not been a good year for me as an F1 fan...

My favourite team (McLaren) are out of the WCC.
My second favourite team (Honda) are struggling with reliability and most of all pace.

My favourite driver Mark Webber is in an unreliable car (RBR).
My second favourite driver (Kimi) is in my least favourite car (Ferrari).

My least favourite team (Ferrari) are witch hunting McLaren, and as usual up to their normal crybaby techniques to win the WCC.

My two least favourite drivers (Alonso and Hamilton) are in my favourite team.

It just gets worse and worse with every race.

Take a look at this, maybe we should create a similar petition for getting rid of Mosley and Ecclestone.

A very simple contrast to highlight why the FIA need to provide a transcript of the WMSC hearing...

"For the drivers we have made an exception because they have supplied evidence" - Max Mosley.

"The WMSC received statements from Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton and Pedro de la Rosa stating categorically that no Ferrari information had been used by McLaren, and that they have not passed any confidential data to the team" - Ron Dennis.

Because the 2008 McLaren will be under so much scrutiny by the FIA, the sceptic in me believes they (the FIA) will be equalising the apparent harm done by McLaren by sharing the data with Ferrari.

Then McLaren will sue....

Then the FIA will be disbanded, and re-structured.

I can't believe it! Why didn't they deduct 25 points or something from alonso and hamilton and scrap the 100 million fine? That would be a lot more fair. I gather the FIA is short of cash!

Because the FIA gave them indemnity for snitching.

The thing is this has been the best season for a long time with a 4 way battle for the WDC, the FIA love the hype generated for F1 by a twice WDC (Alonso) going for 3 on the trot, battling it with a rookie Hamilton. They also got to give their favourite team and sponser -Ferrari- the WCC.

Simplified and in summary my information is on the Evidence presented yesterday was:

McLaren had Ferrari set up sheets and race strategy information before at least two of the opening races. Senior personnel within McLaren circulated this data and stated it was used in their simulations ahead of these races. Also within this communication the source of the data was confirmed as Coughlan and Stepney.

Clearly McLaren had Ferrari data and senior personnel have used it. This would have advantages McLaren as they had not raced bridgestones tyres before and due to the tracks involved had not tested there either. This would have been critical information for the team to make use of at that stage of the season.
In My view the penalty is a farce, McLaren have lost their constructors point which is fair and big fine is good for TV, but the drivers were advantaged at these races and thus their points should have been stripped for at least those races. Additionally those involved in the sharing and subsequent dissemination of the data should be banned from FIA sanctioned sport.

As I said. The aims was to have Ferrari satisfied while not ruinig the season too much (if possible). I'd rather accept the fair and just ruling whatever it would be.
