Yeah I know, but due to his absence last year, it feels like he's been out of the frame for longer. Plus Massa was always the guy that I was watching out for, being a Hamilton fan. Now he's back, and they are both taking times off each other, the world feels normal again.

13:15 The times continue to tumble, and Schumacher is now in sixth with a 1:26.8

13:14 Schumacher also makes a big improvement that sees him move to seventh position

13:13 Fauzy improves his best time by some three seconds and puts the Lotus nearly another three ahead of the Virgin car

Lotus seems to be 5-7 secs off the pace... :? :?

1 Massa Ferrari 1m23.204s
2 Vettel Red Bull 1m23.440s +0.236
3 Hamilton McLaren 1m24.367s +1.163
4 Buemi Toro Rosso 1m24.810s +1.606
5 Di Resta Force India 1m25.088s +1.884
6 Schumacher Mercedes 1m26.857s +3.653
7 Petrov Renault 1m27.297s +4.093
8 De la Rosa Sauber 1m27.825s +4.621
9 Barrichello Williams 1m28.256s +5.052
10 Fauzy Lotus 1m31.848s +8.644
11 Glock Virgin 1m34.453s +11.249

Vettel has done a 24 lap run, 1m23.221s +0.017 to Massa.

So the top three have all set times after 20ish lap stints. Massa and Vettel even matched. Hamilton is a second off the pace, presumably carrying more fuel?

We'll get a better idea if they do some glory laps at the end of the session.

if we allow for the 4-5seconds of delta for full tank we are at .06 to .07 per lap equating to around 1 second in the difference of a 5 lap to a 24lap stint...
we know that we don´t know ...

Fauzy in the Lotus has been running without power steering... not optimal.

Vettel seems to be doing a second long stint. His times are steadily reducing, so that suggests he's continuing with the fuel from the previous long stint?

If he's refuelled we'd expect to see longer times, even with the drying track?

edit ... spoke too soon, he's pulled in after 8 laps
