Mercedes has told AMuS that it is planning to run DAS this weekend.

.. thus maybe/possibly a bigger difference than only an insignificant amount ?
As has been seen over the last few seasons, being able to manage your tires better than others can be more beneficial than an outright lap time advantage.langedweil wrote: ↑01 Jul 2020, 17:25.. thus maybe/possibly a bigger difference than only an insignificant amount ?
Guess we'll have to see ...
yeah but what DAS does would have a positive impact for any team. So its probably more effective then all those things McLaren did also with all those tricks McLaren was quite competitive just not strong enough to beat Redbull.Bill wrote: ↑01 Jul 2020, 17:41Das reminds me of Mclaren during Redbull heydays constantly looking for a silver bullet first it was dog like suspension ,f duct , octopus exhaust.though they were nifty ideas they didn't give them the championship.so it's hard to be sold on das but anywhere Merc are world champs.
I also think that Das is(t
Red Bull complained to the FIA about the f-duct before making their own version, of course, so it was obviously a worthwhile device. Of course, Red Bull used their own silver bullets such as drooping front wings to help their cause.Bill wrote: ↑01 Jul 2020, 17:41Das reminds me of Mclaren during Redbull heydays constantly looking for a silver bullet first it was dog like suspension ,f duct , octopus exhaust.though they were nifty ideas they didn't give them the championship.so it's hard to be sold on das but anywhere Merc are world champs.
RBR does not need the DAS system. The car itself is good and fast enough with regard to tire wear.Just_a_fan wrote: ↑01 Jul 2020, 18:33DAS. It'll probably lead to Red Bull wasting time and energy on complaining to the FIA and/or developing their own version. Heck, they may turn up in Austria with their own version already on the car.
This is my suspicion as well. Its benefit is also going to be limited on a track like the A1 Ring, or whatever they call it now.
Remember the extra pedal they ran for a while? Used in the corners and somehow controlling braking or diff? That seemed to be very effective at the time. I recall them dominating at Melbourne with it, unless I'm getting the years confused!Bill wrote: ↑01 Jul 2020, 17:41Das reminds me of Mclaren during Redbull heydays constantly looking for a silver bullet first it was dog like suspension ,f duct , octopus exhaust.though they were nifty ideas they didn't give them the championship.so it's hard to be sold on das but anywhere Merc are world champs.
