hm .
very interesting point there to state you cannot influence your machineery today by being reckless...or not emphatic.
I do not buy this.
Not much between the two drivers ,save human factors I´d say.And if it dies in his hands he might be the first you have to look at..but that is not putting the blame on him at this time yet...
Maybe he used the more aggressive maps compared to Webber ..Wasn´t Marko/Horner stating Webber would be on conservative strategy technically and Vettel on full attack? If Webbo was not even told Vettel had more aggressive maps or settings it might have contributed to Webbers off as well trying too much to follow his teammate...not knowing there was good reason why Vettel was quicker...

Door open for the showdown now...Redbull will win the constructors silverware but will they win the drivers title as well?

Not at all, the kleine b**t is notoriously wreckless with his machinery, including engines, common knowledge that.

The heartbreak was all Webber's.
Webber effed up and Vettel was a victim of bad Renault or Red Bull reliability. Your comment shows nothing but complete bias. Seb had a complete engine bank failure. This is nothing the driver can influence. He had been saving tyres and was spot on to lead the championship when disaster struck. I guess he probably had an electrical failure or lost the a cam shaft on one side.

Sutil is just a joke...compare this with Kobayashi in Suzuka...he really could have come home with an excellent result but just was falling back into old habits ..running into other cars and wrestling too much...

Revs kill engines, how many revs is he using? I am just pointing out and not that strongly that even last year the same story held true.

+1. He took it excellent though. Still very cheery afterwards. It couldn't have blown in Spa instead?

It's an amazing statistic, and one I don't like. Every time Vettel is on track to lead the championship, something goes boom. Bahrain, Australia, Turkey (If he had pulled it off he would've lead the championship), Hungary. And now Korea. He has been a class act since Monza, nursing a set of softs for 52 laps, then pressuring alonso all the way in Singapore, an emphatic Suzuka victory, and it was about to be a pole-to-flag in Korea, or maybe even his first ever Grand Chelem.

Any news on what happened to Seb's engine? Kubi's engine held up nicely through to the end... or is it some aggressive gearing that has led them to hit the limiter often between turns 2 and 3?

I have mixed feelings about this race. It's obviously a great result for Alonso, he didn't make a single mistake and kept his tyres alive to the very end.

On the other hand I feel very sad for Sebastian, I believe he was on course to clinch this championship after all midseason trouble, and he again did extremely well this race. At that point in the race, after showing such a great display, an engine failure is terrible. Instead of leading the championship, he's now in a bad situation and might face Webber favoritism within his team.

Anyway, also don't forget that Alonso is running short of engines and might also still get a DNF somewhere in the next two races...

I could see the rosberg pass from a mile away though. He was practicing it in all those SC laps.
Sutil was also amazing today. One of the best in the wet.

maybe they are just exhausted (both mentally and physically) after such a hard race. they are only humans.

With all due respect, so do yours.

But I agree that Vettel was out of luck today.

You know, I don't see that happen?

I hope that fate will deal Alonso an equalizer. Unfortunately that is not likely to help Vettel as much as it will Webber. I still can't believe how much luck Webber and Alonso keep having. Webber effs up and lady luck craps over his team mate to keep him ahead in the championship and force the team to possibly issue team orders next time.

An equalizer like the safety cars in Valencia or Silverstone? Or an equalizer like the lost clutch and, eventually, engine in Malaysia? Like the electronics blackout in Monza and Suzuka before the start (amazingly, none of them being costly)? Like the broken chassis in Monaco FP3 (after a clear driver error, though)? Like the two lapped cars costing him positions in Canada? Like Rubens Barrichello almost taking him out of the race in Spa? It's undeniable he's suffered less incidents than Vettel, but then again he hasn't enjoyed the fastest car in all but two or three of the races.
I am not amazed by F1 cars in Monaco. I want to see them driving in the A8 highway: Variable radius corners, negative banking, and extreme narrowings that Tilke has never dreamed off. Oh, yes, and "beautiful" weather tops it all.

Vettel showed his qualities today! He, HAM, ALO and ROS are the best of the best. Maybe KUB too, but he never had a strong teammate.

Who's with me on that Vettel would've scored another pole-to-flag today, and perhaps even a Grand Chelem?
