Sector 1 times for their last laps (not their best sector times overall for most of them):

VER: 16.254
NOR: 16.377
PIA: 16.422
RUS: 16.403
HAM: 16.338

SAI: 16.385
LEC: 16.345

Lol Leclerc just had a pretty funny interview where he went on a rant against himself and his own mentality.

Suffice to say in this moment he knows he messed up... I just hope he'll remember this next week too when we inevitably are in this same position and once again contemplating how much to push for. I understand that they view his qualifying pace as a potential way to make up those tenths, but the car just isn't stable enough and IMO the risk isn't worth it to try more than once.

Car certainly made a step forward in quali with whatever setup changes they made on LEC car. It's obviously a bit on the edge and harder to drive but LEC was pretty fast even on used tires through quali and with the same lap he did on used tires on the last attempt he would have been on front row.

RBR is another planet, 0.4s ahead here is just nuts. Regular programming resumed.

He was .366 behind Verstappen after S2, Carlos was .27 at that same spot if i remember correctly.

Norris ended .404 behind but S3 is where Verstappen makes most time.

so p2 was possible?
Hard to say IMHO. Nothing really representative to compare Norris and Lec in S3. Previous times are these including Charles botched lap.

So they did found som Q pace in the car with the extreme setup that Leclerc choose to go for. Boulds well for the future.

Charles's post sprint interview: "I feel like I want to try something this afternoon to maybe risk it being worse. but can it be worse than p7, p8? I don't think so"

Charles did exactly what he said, and I respect him more for it. Didn't have much to lose and he was not going to keep the Mercs and McLarens behind anyway.

That Lap 18 from LEC was on used tires which understandably ran out in S3 of the 2nd attempt.

Charles already made an error at T6. P2 was very much possible. But it's clear that if you are on the back foot all the time then pushing beyond the limit is required and it causes error

Charles shouldn't feel too bad
The error came at T4, he broke too late and then started going overboard to find the lap

Collecting some more interviews from the team. Note that some of these are translated to English, so not entirely verbatim.

Leclerc: I always want it and today it was too much. Sometimes it pays off, today it didn't. T1 and 3 I was very happy because I was 2 tenths quicker than my previous lap, T4 I braked late to try and get some time but locked up and then went straight. T6 I did a "banzai" [💀] and hoped it would remain stable but went into the gravel instead. T7 I kept trying but from then on I couldn't continue. It's a shame because the first run with used tires in Q3 was very good, the feeling was better and the team did a good job. I made a mistake, so I'm sorry especially after the last races which were difficult, I would have liked to get a better result. A better result would have meant third place perhaps.

Vasseur: We made a small step ahead [compared to earlier], but it wasn't as much as we'd hoped. Charles made a mistake but before the lock up he was much faster than his previous lap. Of course, you have to finish the lap, but that's a risk we needed to take. We minimized the bouncing in turns 9 and 10, but it remains prominent in turn 7. We corrected the brake temperatures and don't anticipate it being a problem for tomorrow's sprint.

Sainz: I'm satisfied, it was a positive qualifying. We were always there, fighting in the top five. It was definitely not easy because it was really tight, but in the end the decisive lap of Q3 was quite clean. I think the team did our best. Mercedes is 10 thousandths behind, but they seem to be ahead on race pace; it will be a tough Grand Prix with them tomorrow.

All in all... pretty positive reactions from all three? Leclerc also mentioned they did end up changing the car a lot compared to the sprint. I wonder what else they changed aside from the brake ducts?

Charles real mistake was in T4 where he locked up and lost everything he gained. He probably thought he could push more and more each corner compared to the previous lap, but with this car he should know that is not how it works. Just bring it home.

The positive thing is that he said the car felt better after the changes they made but yeah...

I want to say: At this point its worth considering going back to Imola spec parts if things don't work out well with whatever they want to bring to Silverstone...

But the reality is they need to take risk with edgy and pointy car in Q to start as far ahead as possible. I was certainly on and on about it a few weeks ago  Car seemed better in Q, let's see what happens tomorrow. There's no excuses for them tomorrow, they simply have to show a lot better pace than they did in Sprint
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

From the interviews it sounds like they improved the car a lot and the balance was there.

But they are still far away from the "disaster" (according to some experts) that is the RB 20 :D

Sainz just now: We went different ways with both cars, and we both had bouncing. There are some laps that it is there and there are laps that it's not. The team is pushing hard to bring a upgrade that can help us in the high speed corners in Silverstone.

Sooo... next weekend might be another "upgrade adjustment" weekend? 🥴
