What do you mean? Oscar did a brilliant job of exploiting Lando’s mistake! The kid is very clearly from the Prost mould, and didn’t make a single mistake.

The truth is that Norris needs to lift his game and not make mistakes.
Did Oscar do a brilliant job? He finished over 4 seconds back, in a car many thought was comparable.
He was fast enough that Lando couldn’t pass him.
But that's irrelevant. The team have been challenging the RBR car at the front. Mainly when Lando was chasing, and he even got an overtake today, but couldn't hold it out. But when Oscar had his chance he went backwards.

This isn't an Oscar vs Lando thing, it's an Oscar vs Max.

Oscar's overall pace is still slower than Lando's. He had the position, but he didn't have the pace. Lando had the pace to catch Max, and Oscar didn't. Questions?

McLaren has to make a decision: do they want to fight for the championships this year? if so, they need to not let their drivers loose time with each other.

Oscar has proved time and time again that he does not have the pace, yet.

Correct conclusions, man.

They know that the only challenge is for Constructors so just getting points is important.

I don’t think the WDC is impossible, but even if it is, I would argue that Oscar made the team loose a potential 1-2.

There was some tire management involved that made Oscar’s pace look worse than it was.

Let’s not forget that Oscar has beaten Max in a sprint race before, on merit, he has the pace.

I said a while ago, I still expect Max the win the majority of races left. We are close, just not quote there to catch up and overtake. But, with Perez struggling we need both cars to take as many points as possible.

Long way to go but McLaren current P3 with 250pts, 26pts behind Ferrari and 89pts behind Red Bull.

P2 is there for the taking and will be the teams minimum goal. Whether can close the gap to Red Bull in that time is something to see, as its a big gap, but entirely possible.

Big question is - how will McLarens development go when they have much less wind tunnel and CFD time than they do currently. That'll be the key point we will see over the latter end of the season into next year.

We are 26 points behind Ferrari, it might be good to not beat them by 26 points.

That should be enough of a gap that we can't catch it. Good for development.

Same though. If we leading by the points at the end of the race we need yo drop a place or two. 5% is a lot. And dont forget with this allocation will develop the 25 car. And with the allocation of January 1 the 26 car

No. What did he deserve for his pace? And what does Qatar 2023 have to do with it? It's the 2024 season now and Oscar doesn't have enough pace to finish. I don't mind that Oscar passed Lando when Lando made a mistake himself. But as I see it from the outside: Oscar should have started to put pressure on Max. And he didn't do that.

Do you think I don't want Oscar to perform better? It's in the team's interests.

Lando says they didn’t have the pace to beat Max, so you guys bashing Oscar for not keeping up with him aren’t being fair.
“But the pace was good. I don't think we would have had probably the pace to go with Max.

“I think he was maybe that little bit too quick for us today, but tomorrow's another day, and we'll try again.”
