Yes, I saw that as well, clear proof that it is a failure of the tire, not cuts die to debris. Pirelli have always been weak where the sidewall connects to the tread.

Well, there's also this:
Which suggests that there could have been FOD damage to the tyre. That debris is a long way from the point where the tyre failed. There's got to be question about whether it was an inherent failure or an external-cause failure.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

Apparently there were less marshals at Silverstone than normal, the justification being the lack of spectators. Dealing with incidents seemed to take much longer than normal, that raises the question of the FOD check not being done as diligently as usual.

There was a full complement of support races this weekend, F3, F2 and Porsche supercup. No other series had any tire failures. It is NOT the curbs or debris, IT IS THE GARBAGE PIRELLI TIRES.

All three tires failed on the front left on the inside shoulder where the sidewall connects to the tread. This was clearly a failure of the pirelli construction, nothing to do with debris.

Sky F1 are reporting that Lewis managed to maintain a blistering pace on his three wheels
"No front left tyre on the car and he still took Copse and Stowe corners at more than 130km/h," wrote Brawn in his post-race column. "He reached 230km/h on the straight with only three wheels, and a front left tyre flailing around - absolutely mind-blowing.

Looks like he went slower for right hand turns and then much faster in the left hand turns knowing the load was on the other tyre.

Hamilton's tyre blew at turn 7 (?), Bottas' at the end of the lap. Turn 7 is just at the start of sector 2.

Does anyone have Hamilton's sector 2 vs Bottas's sector 2? (sector 3 will be spoiled by Bottas entering the pits).

Also:-
"The Stewards reviewed video evidence and determined that Albon was predominantly at fault for the collision at Turn 18. Passes at Turn 18 are unusual and difficult to execute. While Albon appeared to be the faster car the Stewards determined that he attempted the pass too late and the gap on the inside of Car 20 was always going to diminish. It appeared that he attempted to back out of the pass at the last second. The Stewards took into account that Magnussen had a slower exit from Turn 17."
