As mentioned above, yes they were. Well the blocks were at least. The heads where initially two-valve units but in later years they moved to four-valve heads.
A friend of mine is one of the people that worked there with Phil Irving in the late 60's & early 70's to build them.

If you mean the shower injectors pictured above, yes, they work remarkably well during wide open throttle. Placing the injector high not only allows the mixture to atomise more thoroughly but also acts as a longer intake runner thus yielding more velocity to the charge which gives torque in return.

Locating the injectors at the runner inlet took advantage of the fuel's latent heat of evaporation.

The spray characteristics of fuel injectors is a topic of much interest among both recip engine and turbine engine companies.
