Exactly. What I'm saying is that we need to take Horner's whinging with a pinch of salt as all he's trying to do is improve their position.
I thought that meant they had agreed on a new pontiff?foxmulder_ms wrote: ↑07 Apr 2018, 21:00Did Horner ask for the ban of the "white smoke" from Ferrari yet??? haha
I for one miss the old qualy engines. That was cut to reduce cost, so I accept the rule change even if I don't like it. The software mode is very different. Has no effect on cost.strad wrote:I'm inclined to disagree with Horner on the one hand but on the other how far away is this from having special hand grenade qualifying engines which were banned some time ago?
Engines being designed to run on various significantly different maps, and designing the maps themselves probably adds millions to development costs. Okay, maybe just a million or two?DarkSurferZA wrote: ↑07 Apr 2018, 23:29I for one miss the old qualy engines. That was cut to reduce cost, so I accept the rule change even if I don't like it. It's about managing the car through the weekend. What is next, ban fuel saving mid race? That's an engine mode, right?

So ban wet race modes, and fuel saving modes, and diff settings, also Strat 7 mix 3 etc etc... Everything costs money, but at the risk of becoming a kart race series , there are some things that are just rediculous to tamper with. All teams have paid for engine mode software configs, but Merc have a better hardware package and are therefore able to unlock hardware potential using software.Brenton wrote:Engines being designed to run on various significantly different maps, and designing the maps themselves probably adds millions to development costs. Banning multiple modes isn't going to turn F1 into a spec series. Multiple modes isn't even in the essence of racing as most people know it. It's totally unnecessary and costly. People know and like racing in what I see as it's pure concepts of having a car that performs a similar hp each lap, leaving it up to the driver, fuel load (weight), and tire selection and tire wear determining what the car can do. Not performance determined by what map was chosen in that moment.DarkSurferZA wrote: ↑09 Apr 2018, 14:35So ban wet race modes, and fuel saving modes, and diff settings, also Strat 7 mix 3 etc etc... If you give the Renault guys the Merc party mode config, I am sure their hardware will just go poof.
Horner was happy to have ebd but gets all touchy when it's something they don't have. About time we see past the playground antics and stop giving the cry babies (they have them in all the teams) more air time than they deserve

Rules were changed, massively, for 2017... and Mercedes, sadly, still came on topAndres125sx wrote: ↑06 Apr 2018, 13:54Wich doesn´t change the fact FIA usually change rules to stop anyone domination after 4 seasons. They did in RBR era, but didn´t in current one so Mercedes domination will probably last 6 seasons, more than any other
So what happened to Williams then?Andres125sx wrote: ↑10 Apr 2018, 09:30Aero rules were changed, on an era we all know it´s the PU wich makes the difference
