Is the front tire temp an issue that will affect race pace? Or is the pace slow enough compared to Quali that it shouldn't matter?

Or ... Will the harder compounds hold temp better for the race? Charles has been driving really well lately, and a hustled win at Monza would be awesome.

Generating front tyre temp has been a problem all year. I assume it's an inherit design choice that can't be changed mid-season. Generating temp only gets harder, the harder the compound.

We're hoping that there is a temp rise today, that generally benefits us more than the others. I think ambient are going to be around 33C. Track temps around 55C depending on the cloud cover.

Ambient temperature currently shows as 33.7-33.9. For reference, qualifying was around 33.5-33.7.

F1 have the risk of rain at 40%, but it looks like it'll just be increased cloud cover over the track, no actual rain. Of course, this could randomly change...

If he is going for a 1-Stop, then potentially barring any rain or safety cars. Whilst Charles might be upset with the early stop, I think it was right to try and keep up with the McLarens within DRS/Slipstream range.

Issue for Sainz is if McLaren and Charles 2-Stop, their pace will be mighty and will most likely claw it back. It’ll only be 10-15 seconds to catch-up to him… and if he’s pace is poor, he might have to worry about Lewis who is keeping up with him at the moment.

You’re probably right… though I would’ve thought the several laps fresher tyres would’ve given him a bit of a pace advantage to the cars in front… so maybe just conserving a bit to extend the stint? Maybe all down to slipstream/DRS and Charles just driving on the limit.

Otherwise he might need to worry about Lewis more, who is keeping pace and right on his tail.

I’ll take a P3/P4 in this race at this stage… McLaren truly proving they’re absolutely the new team to beat. You’d have to expect they’re going to be just as strong in Singapore, even if Ferrari had found some gains with these upgrades.

Let’s be honest, either way this strategy pull off is a miracle… but McLaren is around 1.5-2 seconds a lap faster. No way this is going to work…

Charles might be lucky and get P2, but Win is off the cards.
