It's a meaningless livery.

Imagine a Mclaren painted in multiple tone paint (e.g. Pearlescent white transparent glow and Transparent glow RAL3026) alternating the edges between the complementary colours and changing as you walk around the car as if the car itself was slowly being rotated not in the 3rd but in the 4th spatial dimension, the W axis, perfectly perpendicular to x, y and z.

Imagine what that looks like not walking around it but out on track.

The F1 design world would stand still in shock and awe and understand that a new era in livery design had finally arrived in the 21st century.

F1 car width now 2.0m (same as 1993-1997). Lets go crazy and bring the 2.2m cars back (<1992).

I like that a lot more than the current livery.

But it doesn't fit McLaren design principles I think. They always delineate all areas as a principle, so the rear of the pods would be a little too "gassy" for them, and they may consider it too crude or large. Also the Mclaren logo on the pod is red on red which isn't really done. They've stated they want to move away from the Vodafone chrome livery so I guess that means no more Rocket Red side pods?

But I like your design. It's a lot better than their redesign.

Agreed, it's no modern red/white design but it's decent looking on TV.

Ah HA! I see a marketing tactic / ploy going on here with their livery:

So from the F1technical gallery we have this:

And then we have the rear of a Mclaren P1

I believe this may be the direction they're going, self advertising the motor car brand and if so its genius.

I see a stylised McLaren 'Kiwi' presented in both the F1 red paint & the road car tail light shapes..
"Well, we knocked the bastard off!"

Ed Hilary on being 1st to top Mt Everest,
(& 1st to do a surface traverse across Antarctica,
in good Kiwi style - riding a Massey Ferguson farm
tractor - with a few extemporised mod's to hack the task).

There's the P1 link theory or maybe a hidden sponsor...

Paddle Pop - 'Best taste ever' sorry but they have gone down hill since I was a kid! Smaller and worse tasting.

Anyways, this livery is a bit more exciting than the previous one, so I guess that is a start.

That's the dog's b*******!

It always tickles me that the fans create far better photoshops than Mclaren do.

Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder eh? I for one like the actual Livery on the Macca better than any of the Photoshops. Blasphemy right? :D
