That might be so, but the exact wordings, never seen that like this.

What other people could be attendees at these team principle meetings?

I think its right the FIA are looking into it. Its good due diligence to investigate. I imagine people wouldn't be happy if a rumour was found to be true and the FIA didn't investigate or take action.

Only other possible thing.....is one (or more teams) telling a little lie in a statement. How much information from team principle meetings gets fed back down to lower levels within the team....there could well be a little mole in the team or a white knight anonymously dropping a hint to someone to investigate.

The FIA needs to be a self-regulatory agency, so they need to open an investigation on their own. Teams denying they made a formal complaint is just that. Hopefully this will be thoroughly checked, there have been way too many convenient coincidences regarding Mercedes and F1 since before 2013.

The teams have zero benefit in denial if it's a lie, and this notion of official vs unofficial is just semantics. Ben isn't the guy to sit idle and be made the bad guy for the sake of protecting "unofficial" info or informants..
