McLaren MCL39 Speculation Thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

does it say somewhere its the 38? and why bother dressing up a 38, this would exactly show that im right, they kept the original inlet

There are multiple details that don't match up with other footage of the mcl39 that we have.. not just the inlet but halo winglets too

Again the p shape inlet is extremely clear in many angles

And why? It's not like other teams haven't gone to the same if not more lengths to hide/obfuscate in previous years

That's the mcl38. No cobra halo winglets, mcl38 shape SP inlets.

Thank you that really confused me for a bit I guess they are doing runs with both cars which makes sense

well, one positive from this. This level of secrecy and investment in "deluding" shows a team that is on top of things, have confidence in what they produced, and think they have something worth hiding

It looks like the increase in angle of the rear wishbone arm matches the angle of the pull rod and the pull rod is placed in front of it. If that’s true then that could contribute to keeping the wake created by two separate arms be smaller and more similar to the wake left by a single arm. That would mean cleaner airflow going back along the car.

What level of secrecy?? The camo livery is just because they can't show the real one until the 75th anniversary show next week.
We will probably see something similar with Williams tomorrow, either a camo or blacked out car

The car on-track today was not the MCL38 though, so I am not sure what you mean by this.

While Oscar says the car is innovative and Zach was impressed by the bold design decisions in the chassis, I don't see anything like that at the moment. We'll see what happens next.
