Do you think the unique Ferrari air duct in the front body work vented a damp air stream into their driver's field of vision affecting their race pace?

The race was fantastic.

Pure wild conjecture on my part :) Alonso seems to be going to Ferrari, and BMW will want a German if they're really replacing Heidfeld. So I'm guessing either Rosberg or Sutil.

Sutil deffo driver of the day.

Hami was fortunate, got away with his accident and then had a saftey car period get him back to the leaders....was easy from there.

Felt sorry for Rosberg, made an initial cock up to lose his nose and then had another taken off by Heikki...and then had a major crash! Not his day!

My vote goes to Sutil. Also Webber was good.

Ah right, yeah I think they'll be after a new German driver and those two seem to be the options, there's also Vettel, but I suspect he'll end up at Ferrari or McLaren

It's good to see Williams and Red Bull beating the Toyota and Renault, whom they get engines from, by 6 points. It seems they can use the engines better than the factory guys :)

Yes Marc was there to clinch the important points, as always when the car holds on. Since 2006 he have had a string of faultless drives, with the cars falling down on him half the time, so in the end people doesn't notice how much he's good. I think Flavio must regret not having brung him in Renault when Alonso left, who knows, now they might have him instead of Piquet.

Speaking of Piquet,... No, it's better not speaking of Piquet. #-o

I was absolutely gutted with Sutil and Rosberg. Both were incredible today, both were robbed by the destiny. Also I won't compare Alonso/Heidfeld move (overoptimistic try by FA) and Raikonen/Sutil one (KR simply lost the car), but I note both World champs ruinned somebody else's race today. In this view Monaco held its promise of shuffling drivers, the most rated ones not necessarly being the bests...

[RANT]
It is sad to say, but I was almost happy to see Bourdais crashed while Vettel succeded. Not that I have anything against my compatriot, but for once the french TV crew were forced to shut the f*ck up with their obscene nationalists comments about Bourdais being the best. When he doesn't perform they find him all sort of excuses, when he does well they write a book out of it... Man, I feel for the brits with Hamilton! It must be horrible... [/RANT]

At least the GP was worth seeing, unlike the three last ones... Let the sky bring rain everywhere!

For me man of the race was Sutil who was robbed of glory by a cruel fate. That's racing but he will be noticed by the right people for this. I think it hits the team harder than him.

From the three top teams Kubica was the only one who drove a faultless race. His stock will be rising and next year his salary will certainly outperform Heidfeld. Nick was very unlucky with an overzealous Alonso but he could have let Alonso pass to keep his chances alive. he did such a good job to compensate for speed in qualifying and such bad luck came at the wrong time.

Hamilton won by default. His competitors screwed up and his team saved him by good race tactics. Apart from his single mistake he drove a level headed race and that is important if you want to finish the season on top. I give the credits mainly to McLaren.

Alonso was brave but dissapointed by lack of judgement.

Nico could have been the star of this race but as I said before Williams are not the team to drive for when you want to win a wet Monaco race. Their car was superb and I have to congratulate Sam Michael for this fine job.

Ferrari was holding all the asses and screwed up on weather tactics. Massa made a mistake and Kimi messed up several times. Nothing to write home about. They should have won this and were beaten by McLaren fair and square. As a team McLaren/Hamilton looked much better today. If the season will go as the last Ferrari will rue the screw ups of Monaco.

Big congratulations to Vettel who got plenty of points with the truck that STR3 is at the moment. No idea what happened to Bourdais who tail ended the stricken Red Bull of DC. Driver error probably. we will see.

Heikki's race got screwed up by reliabilty and I feel sorry for him as well.

Piquet was incompetent as expected. How they decided to put this guy on grooved when he didn't make it on inters remains a secret of the Renault race engineer. when I saw his tyre choice and Alonso's antics so far on grooved I knew he would be in the armco in two laps. [-X  he duly performed to expectations. bring on Sato. 8)

I don´t think Piquet was incompetent if you think so you think the Kovalain was incompetent too remember last year in Canada he crash 2x.... Sato su"$s too in his debut in F1 but now he is good I think Sato must need to go to Toyota....2007 GP from China many pilot did mistakes with the tire and that time their have TC and others aids.... Piquet need time but he said already he will be no good for more 2 or 3 races (this su#%s) I hope he find the way to show what he is up for, so my best wishes for him.

About Webber I really don´t know if the 4th place today was legible he pass Barrichello´s when the Kovalein crash into Button´s car on chicane after the tunnel Webber shot cut the chicane and I don´t think he give the position back for Barrichello. Please some one tell me if I was wrong.

Piquet and Glock had me reminiscing about Mr. Ralph Schumacher.

I hope they both follow him out of F1.

What does anyone here think of Mike Gascoyne's call to have Kimi's error looked at by the marshalls? He sort of has a point in some ways,.. if it had been the other way around Ferrari would be screaming blue murder about hammered Force India.

Or is it just the big disappointment speaking at the moment?

they'll each have to win 6 GP's before they are like ralf...i dislike ralf just as much as you, but your post forced me to defend the little honor he has; call it 'fair.' after 6 wins they can exit... :)

a side note on this....the SPEEDtv guys made a good point during today's broadcast: button tried about 120 times before he finally won a gp, heidfeld has yet to win a gp after about 140 tries, and here piquet jr is under pressure after 6 gps. personally i don't see anything special in piquet jr--stay or go it doesnt matter to me--but again im just trying to be fair.

I think it is his last name that is getting to him. Or should i say that the weight his last name holds is putting pressure on him and from other people to expect more from him. I seem to remember hearing that him and Hamilton would battle it out in Gp2, along with nico and kubica?

Re: Monaco GP 2008

I was gutted to se Sutil crash. If it had been me, today I'd probably be on jail charged with burning Kimi's motorhome.

Anyway, I think the man that won most here was Hamilton. Not because of the 10 points but because he learned he is human. He can f**k it up big time, and he is now aware of that. 5cm more on the barrier and it was game over. 2 corners before, and it would have been a lot worse. Conclusion? You better drive carefully round a wet monaco.

I also saw three men driving like possessed souls. Two of them (Rosberg and Alonso) crashed. It hurts more when you support Alonso and Williams, and it hurts more when you are screaming at the telly "No! No! Don't do it in Loewes" AAAAARGH!!!. The other one was Sutil. The pace that guy was putting was mighty impressive. Even more impressive if we take into account that it's the first race he's been quicker than old Fisi.

PS: Two men that also drove flawlessly were Massa and Kubica. Kudos to them. It's somewhat of a shame that the one stopper of Massa (brilliant qualy lap. Has Dennis anything to say?) was hampered by a drying track.

BTW: Did anyone see what happened with Button and Alonso after the safety car?
I am not amazed by F1 cars in Monaco. I want to see them driving in the A8 highway: Variable radius corners, negative banking, and extreme narrowings that Tilke has never dreamed off. Oh, yes, and "beautiful" weather tops it all.

Big fat RIDICULOUS.

If you want to give penalties to drivers not making an effort and pushing and therefore sometimes losing control. Then give penalties to F(*!^#12 half the field then for Monaco 2008 GP.

Numbnut dumbass Gascoyne. I really feel, when the team has lost about a damn lot of prize money. Maybe that fat Indian should stop spending on parties and increase the budget instead of relying on points/tv money.
