tire battle in F1

Post

isnt is better to have tire battles like pre-2007 era where cars can have different tires and hence have that differentiator on track??
and there is then that argument that some teams or tyre company will build a tyre to suit 1 car, driving style etc, but i think it will be a good idea to use 2 different tire per team, say 1 red bull on bridgestone and another on pirelli

F1 is still very much lack the relevance that car companies needs, i believe in reduce aero and allow more complex suspension systems or tire management systems as long as the aero is at a certain amount, the maximum grip is on the tires is controlled and following cars will be easier

good idea??

The current rules don't lend themselves to multiple tyre suppliers. Pirelli is having trouble knowing how long tires are going to last this season, take the super soft tyres for example. What if the manufacturers are asked to produce a tyre that lasts 20 laps and actually one of the manufacturers versions lasts 40?

I'm pretty happy with the tyre situation currently, they're providing (arguably) some of the most exciting races that we have seen in a long time. I don't see the point in going backwards.

well it went well until Ferrari complained as they were getting dominated by BMW who introduced a wider front tire.

It won´t work because the guys losing will cry on Todt´s shoulders.

With regard to "road relevance" - has never been there, will never be there, should never be there.

With regard to tire wars... might be interesting. Would have been fun if I was still at a tire company. Obviously there would be a totally different rule set, and none of this "make tires that suck" edict malarkey.

But, in a day in age where it's almost impossible to talk ANY tire company into taking the sole supplier role, good luck finding a pair willing to dump even more ludicrous amounts of money into open comp.
Grip is a four letter word. All opinions are my own and not those of current or previous employers.

Tyre battles distracted from the racing. It is much better to have one tyre supplier.

Whilst I don't want to see F1 become a spec. series, something need to be standardised across all teams.
