I like you, wanted to become a racing driver but as a hobby, but I have to inform you, a F1 Game does not translate to real life skill, there is alot more to it than being on a game - for one the game isnt even realistic, I have raced karts and finished 5th in my first year in it with a 7 year old kart and 15 year old engine and was 2 tenths off the fastest guy by the final race (he had brand new equipment). I think you may have missed the boat for getting to formula 1, for karting and motorsport generally you need to start when you are about 14 at the latest, I started 2 years ago, and I have finished now as once you turn 17 it is very difficult to race. To get to formula 1 you need to race at national level, which means you need brand new equipment, brand new engines brand new everything to even be competitive, you are looking at a figure to be very competitive of about £8,000+ per year at least, i raced at club level and I would say in total it cost me £3000 at least and that isnt even being very competitive, also to win its alot down to setup and mechanical knowledge of the equipment your driving, In my opinion if your target is formula 1 ,,, I would forget it. As I said Racing games are not realistic at all, you dont learn the 'feel' for a kart or a car with them.
If you want to race for fun cheaply at club level, go into Junior TKM (a cheap class which doesnt require as much cost) if you have barrels of money go into Rotax or KF.
If you were 14 or younger I would say look into it a little bit, but if you want to race for fun and your 16 go race at club level in one of the classes I have listed
I now race in BSKC, and I have won 2 out of the 2 races I have competed in
