Mercedes FW Slot

Post

I am trying to understand exactly what the benefit of blowing the Mercedes FW slot.

This area of the bottom side of the element where the slot is located would usually have the lowest pressure value of all the wing's surfaces. So when they feed higher pressure flow into this area are they:

A) Simply increasing the pressure in this area and thus reducing downforce? Can this be calculated if we know what pressure is being provided?

B) Is this pressure increase upsetting to the flow over the balance of the lower wing surface or just represent a net gain in pressure all the way back to the trailing edge?

A: No, a ordinary slot gap would be used.
B: ???
Maybe it's for the F-duct.
