Tyre wear and setup?

So Ross Brawn said that they can solve tyre wear issues with car setup (http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/98615)

What options in setup does he have for this? Apparently, the tyres are overheating, so how to reduce that with car setup?

In Melbourne the tyres were working in the cold Friday temps and they overheated in the race because of higher temps. In Malaysia the race was wet and so a car whose temps were on the mark on Friday couldn't heat up in the race.

Otherwise I'd suspect they'd reduce downforce as then they'd have less lateral loads to heat the tyres.
