Finding Primary Sources for Early Formula 1

Post

Hey, I've been working on a project where I started with the 1950 formula season, and am digging up whatever media I can find--one race at a time. Anyway, it looks like US magazines, readily found on Google, do not start picking up the stories until the late fifties. Anyway, I just wanted to put a feeler out as to whether anybody could point me in the right direction toward primary source materials from the earliest Formula 1 championship.

I realize this a bit of an odd question, so thanks in advance for any thoughts you may have.

Are the British counterparts to the US magazines available online too? Or UK newspapers. I'm an ignorant American, so I don't know if those papers still exist.

Also, there was a series of videos posted here, something like 'the history of a gentleman racer' and it's all this gentleman's own footage. Would that not count as a primary source?

I also am an ignorant American. Does anyone know what sites might cover the full text of British magazines from the early 1950s (for free?). I'm in a rural location, so I don't have access to a library with subscription resources. Do you have the link for the gentleman videos?

Also, people can check out what I have so far at

Ahh finally found it!

I dunno if they are still up though. I think the video itself would be considered primary whereas anything said in the commentary would not.
