F1 technical lesson (willing to pay)

Post

Hello forumers,

I am starting a new career in F1. I used to cover football and Tennis and now I am covering F1. As my English is not very good, I am looking for someone who is very good in Technical side of F1 to explain me on Skype via a chat certain elemant and I am willing to pay per hour.

I want to know:

- The name of the elements of a car (front wing..but I am looking for hard parts..).
- The 2014 F1 car designs, what is the idea behind each design.
- How the engines works.
- What is ERS and how will it work in the new cars..
- And different topic as well.

If you are interested, then PM me to discuss the rate and the best time.

P.S: I know there are a lot of topics and articles but I don't understand. I need someone to explain me in details. In a very easy English. Basically I need an F1 teacher.

WOW!!! I'll start with a bit of career advice. In any career, it is important to understand concepts that are related, but perhaps not directly related to one's specific job. You report on football and tennis, but you did not see fit to learn about racing? If you are called upon to report on curling, or figure skating or jai-alai, you should be prepared with at least a fundamental knowledge of the sport and the top ranked players.

Granted, in F1 and other forms of racing there is a lot of technical knowledge involved, and a few Skype sessions will not solve your problem. I suggest the following sources to aid your study.
Autosport
Racecar engineering
ScarbsF1.com
Mulsannescorner.com
Any book on the fundamentals of auto mechanics. Mind you F1 engines are different, but you need the basics.

Suspension geometry
camber
caster
weight transfer
center of gravity
roll center
coefficient of friction

Aerodynamics
The Venturi effect
The Coanda effect
The Meredith effect
laminar flow

Steve Matchett, a reporter for Fox Sports News, formerly with Speed Channel, has made some wonderful short videos which give the newbie some basic understanding of many of the concepts involved with F1. If you can find them they will be helpful.

Watch as many races as possible...not necessarily F1, study the ebb and flow of a race. What happens during pit stops. How does pit stop strategy differ between race series? How do tyre strategies differ between race series? Why?

Finally no reporting of F1 is complete without reporting on the politics of F1.
