Rationale for Locking Threads.

Is there one?

What purpose is it supposed to serve?

Or is it simply a caprice - at the whim of the moderation team?

How does it work - seems any plea for a thread to be locked - is granted, simply takes a member to do so,
& sans rationale?

Conversely, if a thread has been locked, (for no apparently valid reason), then just ask for it to be - unlocked?

Threads can be locked for a number of reasons found in the user posting guidelines. If you have questions please PM the moderation staff. You don't need to make a new thread.
