The FIA has found Jacques Villeneuve guilty of holding up Renault driver Giancarlo Fisichella in yesterday's qualifying. Jacques will move to 9th on the grid and therefore lose his 8th place to Juan Pablo Montoya. Giancarlo Fisichella on the other hand remains 11th and is still frustrated of being so far back on his pole sitting teammate Alonso.

Does anybody know what was Fisio shouting out at BMW's garage after the quali session?
I personally think that it was way out of order. Fisio had enough time to set the lap, and anyway, why is his lap more important then Jaques? I'd never have Fisi as my driver, he just can't take the fact that Alonso is a lot better with the same car.
He really made him self look like a a biggest loser.
The trouble with the rat-race is that even if you win, you're still a rat.
Villeneuve has been demoted one place on the grid to ninth either way but I didn't see Fissi get held up. ITV commentators said that the telemetry had been checked and he held him up by seven tenths apparently.
"Whether you think you can or can't, either way you are right."

I agree. With a reserve because on TV we didn't see his whole lap, but in the final sector he wasn't that close of Jacques, actually he crossed the line a hundred meters away, (judging with my eyes, I may be totally mistaken, but the sure thing is that he wasn't really close when he complained brandishing his fist). Yes that's the behavior of a looser who fear to lose his position in the team (according to TV commentator, this is a growing possibility).
Anyway I find the decision very unfair for JV.
btw, I think I heard the word "bastardo", wich meaning is obvious.
“You lose a lot of downforce, a lot of grip. It is unacceptable even more because he was on his out lap."
Apparently Jaques was on his outlap?
I like this qualify format, but there's so much going on that you always have to miss something important. It's funny when ITV commentators get confused in the last session, most of the first words begin with "is that" "oh that is" "i think.." reminds me of Murray

All the drivers know that there's a lot of traffic on track. A lot have already been put back because of weird circumstance, for instance a red flag killing the end of one session. It's get the times in, and if you play it cute on the last lap, there are no guarantees. I like both JV and Fisi, but Fisi's got to stand on his own two feet and accept the fact he allowed himself to get into this circumstance. At the time, JV was close to not making the final session, and everyone has to fight for position. Here's the hypothetical question.. if a driver knows that if he allows another driver past, he will not make the next qualifying session? Does being a gentleman make one a fool? Or does being a fighter and hard nosed competitor make one a bastardo?
Come on, this is competition, where you fight and claw your way to the best result, without being a wimp. At no time did JV make the situation dangerous for anyone, there was never any safety issue. And it's not like the situation where Sato held up Webber last year and screwed up his qualifying, this was not a single lap thing, Fisi has more than enough time and laps to put himslef into the next session, he just wanted to do it on the very last lap, and it slipped away. As far as I'm concerned, both JV and Fisi are 50% responsible, it's just the fact that Fisi wants to lay the whole thing on JV.
its not he had 1 bad day! i have always rated fisi as one of the better drivers. but over the last 2 seasons there has been alot of mistakes and his race pace sometimes are really slow compared to alonso. i know alonso is a real talent and the team may be concentrating more on him but the difference is abit too much. i think he just cannot take the pressure of a big team.
The problem with Fisi is he is an emotionally driven person to the extreme. When things dont go his way he throws all his toys out of the pram and looses motivation. You may well say that's immature but its just the way his mind works, the same is quite true for Jarno Trulli (and one may suggest ralf is of the same nature)
When Fisi is motivated just look at what he can do (Spa 2001, Spa 2002, Australia 2005, Sepang 2006). When he is not motivated...well, he disappionts for a driver of such obvious pace.
Silence is golden when you don't know a good answer.
In Bahrain he said on radio "fu**ing engine" and now he said "bastardo" which is indeed immature and brings harm to team's image. Obviously his ego concerns him more than team. He simply can't be anywhere near Alonso and that pressure from team and fans is breaking him since 2006 season looks like 2005 when it matters his contribution to the team.
I wonder if Renault should copy Ferrari and have one WC and one assistant. I have been looking through the records a bit and I noticed Ferrari have never had two drivers on a team who are both WC quality.

Not in Schumacher times no, but they've had some very exciting drivers in the past (in the same year).
As for Renault, well they don't have to do anything, Alonso is faster anyway so Fisico can't take away point of him
