There needs to be a team whose race strategy is run entirely by the fans. We can call this team the "Open team". This team will have various aspects totally decided by fans. In this thread we will look at the team strategy.
This creates the ultimate level of fan interaction and engagment like never seen before. There is also a benefit of cost saving as expenses on strategy teams and physical command centres will be eliminated.
How will this system work?
Fans of the "Open team" must register with their name and Identification any time during the season. They must be devoted fans to one "open team" only for the year. This prevents conflicts of interest. Participants can join at anytime in the season. There is of course a membership fee.
The membership fee will go towards funding the team.
Every member is given access to an online stream of relevant data in the control centre web page or app. Data is presented in different tabs and includes tyre temperatures, suspension settings, tyre wear, wing levels, fuel consumption, coolant temperatures etc. The whole smorgasbord. Great. Now with all that data presented. How is strategy metered out? It is metered out by a voting system.
The voting system is artificial intelligence based. It is also on demand meaning Anyone can vote from preset strategies at any time. The submitted tactics are sent to big data cloud and artificial intelligence presents the biggest voted strategies to the team in the pits. For example if 10,000 fans are logged in on the control centre app. It is lap 15 and our driver (very likely a pay driver lol) is chasing Alex albon, whose RedBull is starting to slide around... Within this moment 4,000 persons vote "pit stop this lap", 3,000 persons vote " pit stop plus 5" "2000 persons vote" pit stop plus 10" 500 persons vote variations of plus 1 to 10 and 500 persons do not vote. The Ai will present pit stop this lap to the team in the pits as this was the majority vote. Note that the Ai is programmed to undertsand sense of urgency based on the rate if inflow of votes. It will adjust its judgement and presentation time according to this.
For the strategy Module. Fans are allowed to vote on higher level strategies like tyre choices, when to go out in qualifying, pit stops, team orders, lift and coast, attack, etc. They are not allowed to influence Car set-up, or engine modes and the deeply technical stuff.
The team strategist is obliged to follow the fan strategy with any objections being justified to the fans at the end of the race. There is no physical strategy command center for this team.. It is all in the cloud.
The app will also allow fans to set their race strategy before hand if for some reason they are not ables to attend live. The AI will take these inputs at the appropriate times indicated.
This is just an introductory concept of the working details and functions of such an Open strategy cloud system and of course an Open cloud team. I hope it something Liberty considers and develops.
