Because there is only one engine homologated for LMP2.

DPi uses the same Gibson engine as the P2s
DPi can use any road engine on a P2 chassis. They can also develop aero elements to give them distinction from LMP2

LMDh now calls for same rules with a Hybrid system (which I guess is a standard spec part)

But then they're limited to a single series. Now they can do both sides of the ocean, Le Mans and anything in between that allows P2. It's a much more cost effective solution.

DPi was a good idea.

I do not understand why FIA did not allow multiple engines in lmp2 like it had allowed before.
