The Fanatec GT2 European Series has been formulated to bring amateur drivers back to the centre of GT racing, offering world-class cars run by professional teams within a more relaxed atmosphere where they can thrive.
Entering its third season in 2023, the Series continues to grow and evolve to make GT2 racing more accessible to non-professional drivers. The previous age restrictions have been removed and The Iron Cup introduced, while two more manufacturers join the grid.
A GT2 car features more outright power than a GT3, but is less dependent on its aerodynamics to produce the best lap times, making it more friendly to race for an amateur. GT2 sits below GT3 in the SRO pyramid, giving amateurs a place to develop on a level playing field and hone their skills with extensive track time.
More and more manufacturers are adopting the GT2 regulations, with the new Maserati MC20 GT2 and the Mercedes-AMG GT2 models due to make their debut. Add in the Audi R8 LMS, Brabham BT63 GT2, Porsche 911 GT2 RS, KTM X-Bow GT2 and Lamborghini’s Super Trofeo Evo and you have a truly impressive field.
