Let's hope their all-new "front to back" design actually has a good cooling package for once, so that they can push the engine to the max without compromising drag due to it being less HP than the others. Enstone has had a bulky and rather bad cooling package for a while.

Hopefully some improvements to the rear of the car too. Still doesn't look as advanced as some others.

What do you mean by a "good" cooling package?

It seems that their engine simply requires more cooling than others. Can it be as simple as them not being able to run their engine as hot meaning they need more cooling thereby making it bulkier? I don't think alpine's aero department lack the ability to make a decent cooling package

If we take their engine deficit at face value of 30hp that's worth maybe 4 tenths on average.. that puts their chassis, if we take engine "out of the equation", at a respectable place relative to teams like AMR and Mercedes. They don't lack the aero understanding imo

“There are things we are doing in our suspension for next year which will try to deal with that. We’ve been doing some experiments with the car at races and that’s really enabled us to highlight where we want to push the aero department and vehicle dynamics for next year’s car.”

I read from someone who usually provides good info that the problem was in fact a bad cooling system. It was simply inefficient and probably ruined the aero when you needed to run max cooling.

Gasly finished on the podium in the sprint race in Spa and Ocon finished 4th in Las Vegas which were both very cold weekends and required good straight line speed and power but not much cooling openings. Then in Hungary (the track that you would say is not very power sensitive) they were terrible but Hungary requires max cooling.

Something tells me that exactly because of their cooling, their car as a whole package has been held back, and their floor also didn't fit what they were trying to do due to the chassis AFAIK from an article.
The 2023 A523 is a what could have been car, compromised due to some poor design choices (and some coming back full circle like the letterbox inlets). At the end of the year it was evident that the aero is good.

Let's see what A524 brings. I think suspension and chassis are the first that'll go to the drawing board.

It's a shame the engine (and perhaps the mechanical base) is not up to it. With hindsight, looking back at photos of the launch A522 of two years ago, it seemed to have the right aero ingredients in it...

Not sure how trustworthy this claim or website is but it says that, according to Crofty, Ocon told him the "Alpine is a bit slow".

According to Motorsport Italy Alpine has passed the frontal crash test but not the lateral anti-intrusion test. In the team led by Famin there is agitation because the presentation of the car is scheduled for February 7 and time is running out.
It seems the rumour had some truth in it then.

Could be either a great or a bad news... seems like this year they are pushing the boundaries to develop the car agressively !
