"Deflection"

Post

Sorry if this seems a stupid question to ask, but when Sam Michael is talking about the FW29, he mentions something call "Deflection".

Can someone define what that means, please?

Thank You.

It depends entirely on the context. Can you put it into that?

I think.

"...FIA Sidegap temperies (sp? Something on the Rear Wing) to prevent excessive deflection..."

Does that help?

Deflection in terms of the rear wing is to do with the flexing we saw last year. When the rear wings moved to make the slots between them smaller, its called Deflection.

Bending or flexing also does the trick in this case.
I believe in the chain of command, Its the chain I use to beat you till you do what i want!!!

it reduces drag, then the car can reach higher top speeds...

FIA, makes a test to the deflection on the rear wings.
