The F2007 rim shields

I believe most of you guys noticed that the F2007 rim shields. These rim shields are stationary as the wheels run. We can see from the below picture that a thin groove located on the front shield, and a half-moon shape duct at the lower half, but the rear wheel rim shield has a hole. What is the purpose of using them and having these shapes? Enhance cooling efficiency, generate downforce, or even both?

and I'm wondering to see what's the back side of the shields look like. any pictures?

well, actually I just found the answer from the F1 official web,

"Although they've been tested at Barcelona and Paul Ricard, Silverstone marks the race debut for these items. Their purpose is to direct the hot airflow generated under braking away from the wheels and underneath the car (red arrow). The slit in the rim shield has a specific 27-degree angle to achieve this. The hot air accelerates the airflow underneath the car, hence helping with the extraction of air via the diffuser. This provides additional downforce, better stability and an improved aero balance. As you can see, the function of the front shields is completely different to the rears, which simply aid brake cooling and reduce turbulence."

Make a short search for the info you are looking for before starting a completely new thread. Simple advice, don't take it personal.

The holes in the center are for the wheel nut guns to reach inside, if they were completely sealed there would be no way for the removal of the front and rear wheels.
