Sorry if this topic has been covered a million times
I've been wondering with all the bizarre ideas that come up at the beginning of the new season. How many crazy ideas do F1 designers test before settling on (i guess) a few ideas that go into the wind tunnel testing from CFD? It jsut came to mind as obviously there is a general design of front wing that works (see most F1 cars) but when someone begins to break (and the closest to that this year is Renault and Honda) from the norm how much time do they get to put into the more extreme ideas as opposed to modifying the current design with minor tweeks?
