What chassis is SA running in 2008? RA107 or RA108?

Post

i remembered i read a few articles at the end of the 2007 season saying that Nick Fry said SA will be running RA108 in 2008.

i am just wondering does anyone know if that is true or not?

quotes or links would be great.

thanks

Super Aguri is planning to use a modified RA107 chassis for the first races in 2008 . If the team manages to overcome the Financial problems of course........ During the session it is planned to use the same new RA108 chassis with Honda F1 Team . ( Same issue for the RED BULL teams)

A picture from Jerez January testing shows clearly that SA has already tested Honda RA107 car

The RA107 car was used also in Valencia January testing by Honda F1 team

If a customer team ever needed to prove its worth, its now. Honda needs to get a LOT of mileage and development done on the RA108, they need SA's help.

Or maybe Honda should prove their own worth as constructors and get their own sh*t done. Other alternatives are to leave F1, or go back to being an engine supplier.

But, if there is no Honda F1, there is no Super Aguri either.

I feel sorry for SA, they could do so much better if only they had a larger budget, but unfortunately they have no option but to wait a season or so for Honda's leftover crap.

Sorry, but this is an example of the kind of post that can be created when one cannot go to sleep.

It's worth noting that Super Aguris test team (and a significant proportion of its race team) is run and staffed by Honda F1.

I seem to recall early in the 2007 season, shortly after it became clear the 07 Honda was ..... slow, that SA, having anticipated their 2008 choices, issued a statement they would be building their own car.
This would seem to have not happened.
Given that Honda may have laid another egg, SA needs to get some good technical help right quick or they will be stuck with another batch of unpalatable left-overs.
All is not complete doom and gloom. Remember, Honda's main focus is to beat Toyota. In this race they may be closer than we are giving them credit for.
My money is on an RA108-B sometime around June. Maybe SA can get that for next year.

SA will be starting the year with the SA08, due to launch at the Barca test on Feb 19th. No word on if it's going to be SA07, RA107 or RA108 based yet.

The reason that SA were testing an RA107 was that F1 Teams have an agreed annual limit on how many hours of testing they can do. SA had more time left than Honda in 2007, so Honda did some testing on their car under the SA banner, which made the other teams pretty angry. I believe banning/not banning this kind of testing switcheroo is one of the sticking points of the new Concorde Agreement negotiations.
