CFD: Finite Volume or Finite Element

Post

I was wondering if someone can help me. I'm trying to find out what the most common CFD method is in F1. My understanding is that it Finite Volume led but is moving towards Finite Element because it is more accurate ...

Was wondering if anyone had any thoughts?

Finite volume is the most common CFD analysis type, finite element for structures.... FSI requires a coupling code.

I know a lot of teams use proprietary, non-mainstream codes. As far as finite element versus finite volume, I'm not really sure.

Here is a good read for you if you are interested. It outlines some of the major differences between several CFD methods.
