Mid Wing idea

I'm not too good with aero, but don't shoot me for this.

What if the mid wings that are featured on the RBR ferrari had endplates?

would that help divert airflow to the rear wing???

the mid wings featured on the BMW have some sort of endplates, so can these mid wings have endplates under the regulations and would they work?

this also reminds me of the 96 mclarern i think it was, with the mid wing that looked like a rear wing from that time.

I believe I'm understanding what you mean. But the Ferrari and RBR winglets are located at a position where any addition might not help anyhow.

I get what you mean, but i think that they may just add drag.

If you look at the way they are shaped, they direct flow onto the rear wing, thus giving the rear wing more downforce efficency.

It would work, but i think that it would add drag in a critical aera of the flow of air to the rear wing.

The Viking Horns that are on the BMW Sauber and Hondas are there as conditioners to the rear wings flow of air, due to the way the car is shaped, air has a tendancy to stall in those zones, the Viking Horns are there to stop that i think.

Sorry, I don't quite understand. There's no way to attach endplates to a midwing--in most cars they are attached to those flip-ups inside the rear wheels

And on the BMW the midwings are much further forward, coming out from the middle of the engine cover over the middle of the sidepods (the 2 pictures on top are the relevant ones...you can see in the top right picture that there is no midwing toward the back of the car as it is with the Ferrari--the BMW midwing is further up)

The original poster might not even know what he himself thought when coming up with this idea, since he hasn´t bothered to come back and clarify what he meant exactly. He has us all guessing as to where he might have been heading with it.

Or he might have gotten his terminology a bit confused, and was really aiming towards the airbox wings as ´PNSD´suggests.

Now i think i know what he means, i think hemeans the wings on the airbox close to the t-cam.
If i am right with it that would cause underpressure on top of the wing and thus causing more lift while the air going to the rear wing doesnt change.

Yes. I'm of the view that he/she wanted to know if about the winglets/fins.

I have the same opinion with PNSD , lambsie probably have mistaken airbox wings ( RBR , Ferrari ) with Viking horns ( BMW )

yes, i think he means that.
If you would add these endplates it will cause underpressure on top thus creating more lift without increasing extra air to the rearwing thus reducing the overall efficiency.

The idea wouldnt work due to the thing that happens that i posted above.
