2008 Japanese GP

Post

Time for the '08 Japanese Grand Prix at the Mount Fuji Circuit...

ImageImage linked from f1-world.co.uk

For the 'Make Cars Green' campaign, Bridgestone has brought tyres with markings on the grooves for the Japan. Every grooved spec tyre will have green lines, but the softer compound will have one white stripe (among the other green ones) to differentiate it from the harder.

I saw a photo of a Honda pitstop light, similar to Ferrari's. Have they been using this before? Or is it new for Japan?

Its a new thing.
Its part of Bridgestone's new campaign "Make cars go green" or something like that.
Its just a load of hogwash.
"Look, we think of the environment!! We have even painted our tires GREEN!!! GREEN!!" - is what they are trying to say.

bullshit really. Just like the rest of the F1 circus these days.
The only way to close a stupid question is to give a smart answer

Good looking out crbassassin

Looks like the Ferrari's are fast down the straight and the McLarens faster in the twisties. Good practice times by Kazoo & Sutil. The renaults look stronger, even more then the BMW's. Toyota & Honda look Pitiful. But hey its only practice, right A.I.?

anyone see that new fancy mirror wing on that Force India, very nice inginuity.
If you are required to have the drag of the mirror, as per the rules, at least make a wing out of it.

I'm quite impressed after second practice. Not only for Glock and Alonso for heading the times, but the close spacing of the rest of the pack. From Glock's 1:18.383 to Coulthard's 1:19.327 we have less than a second, and seventeen cars within that window. Talk about becoming competitive. This will only benefit the fans, because we will be able to witness hard racing throughout the entire field.
Hopefully, we will see a rain and safety car free race. I like mixing things up, but this time, I'd like to see less variables.
Racing should be decided on the track, not the court room.

Watching FP1 last night, I noticed that the Renault and the Ferrari were both very stable on the exit of the corners, where hamiltons McLaren was VERY skitterish.

I dont know if this was fixed for FP2, but when Kimi was just stomping it out of the corners and keeping a very smooth arc, and Lewis was having ALOT of correcting coming out of the corners, Lewis was a bit faster, but man was he doing an aweful lot of work!

Anyways, looks good for a rain free race, too bad...

WHY does it have to be a wing shape?? Are the winds that strong in Japan?? They just want to get things complicated. Maybe they tried the fantasticcontraption.com thing too hard.
