F1T Fantasy League 2009

Post

Anyone interested in another go at an F1T fantasy game for '09?

I'd be happy to run it, but I would propose a much simplified game. What Sebbe and Spencifer did with all the extra variables was great fun but it also took too much time to corelate and killed the series.

So, if anyone wants to have a go at this again, here's what I would offer:

Two drivers
One Chassis
Budget: TBA

Points would be scored as follows:
Pole=1 (No, Kubica would not qualify for 1 point every race.)
1st=14
2nd=11
3rd=9
4th=7
5th=6
6th=5
7th=4
8th=3
9th=2
10th=1

Thats it. Only finishing positions and pole score points. If a driver is replaced for whatever reason, his replacement becomes yours. No reshuffle.

I dropped the engine category because of customer engines. If Ferrari supplies more than one team, for example, what do we do? Average the finishing position? So I eliminated that.

Anyone want to do this?

After using 2008 as a restructuring year, Russell Turner Racing (in association with www.carswithoutgas.net ) hopes to be challenging for the championship once the rules for the coming season have been finalised.

To save some boring arithmetic work, why don't we make use of an already existing system?

http://www.f1manager.info/

I used this for 2008 and it worked very well; we could make up a league for F1Technical (Takes two seconds) and then just talk about it here. I really like the system that site has - I was going to be using it anyway for 2009, so we might as well all use it :)

If you don't like that idea we could use your system.

N.B.

Run down of how their system works:

At the beginning of the season you are given a budget of 130,000,000 Euros and you have to pick two drivers, an engine and a chassis. Obviously you cannot pick the best combinations at the start.

You get the points shown below for their performance

Code: Select all

	 DRIVERS	 CHASSIS	 ENGINE
P.	Q	R	Q	R	Q	R
1	25	50	15	30	10	20
2	21	42	12	24	9	18
3	18	36	9	18	8	16
4	15	30	7	14	7	14
5	12	24	6	12	6	12
6	10	20	5	10	5	10
7	8	16	4	8	4	8
8	6	12	3	6	3	6
9	4	8	2	4	2	4
10	2	4	1	2	1	2
With 50,000 Euros per point.

You can then change your team with the money you collect. Note: you pay a 10% contractual fee if you want to get rid of any driver/component so whilst the next driver up may cost just 1M Euros (29M to 28M for example) you pay 3.8M Euros to upgrade. This eats into your budget.

It works VERY well :)

For 2008 I finished 105th overall (out of 18,000 players) and won my own site's league and came second in the AtlasF1 BB league (losing by just a few points). :)

As long as the others agree, it sounds like a perfect solution to me.

Wow, I had no idea that something like this existed. I'll most likely get stomped, but I'd like to try it.
