Movable aerodynamics in F1

Post

As part of my masters engineering course I am doing a project on movable aerodynamics in F1 for the FIA.

I'd like to know if anyone knows of any research into the application of movable devices; such as actuators, flexible materials or shape memory alloys.

Also, as part of a group of FIA projects, a survey has been written and we would be very grateful if people would complete.

Check out the F/A-18 AAW (active aeroelastic wing)... Used wing warping for roll control.

There are also examples of SMA actuators being used to warp chevrons on aircraft engine nacelles for acoustic or thrust reasons.

As for within motorsport... not so sure.

In f1, the movable front flaps uses small motors.

A year or two ago someone brought this up so here is an update on wind turbine blade developments, humpback whale inspired.

It's not really related to this topic but I guess turbine blades are moveable as well and it's an interesting article.
