Asymmetric Exhaust on McLaren MP4-24?

The link below clearly shows asymmetric engine exhausts on McLaren, with right hand side exhaust having a larger diameter than the left one.

I am trying to understand the reason why they would have this, unless they are mixing some other flow in on the right side exhaust. That could still change the pressure on the engine exhaust which in turn be a difference on the power output of left to right. That should not register as a vibration at 18k rpm, but some additional torque on the engine.

Does anyone have other ideas?

This was discussed in another thread - basically there are different radiator setups on each side of the car, thus different cooling requirements. In this instance the right side requires more airflow than the left, hence the larger opening.

On a separate note they are using a new (to 2009 I guess) fuel filler cap, rotating to open rather than flipping open. Interesting...

it's not completely new design. they had similar when they were were using horns (between start of 2005 season and Nurburgring 2007). back then it was because there was no room under the horns to flip the cap. if I recall correctly BMW went the same path to fit the fuel filler cap under their horns.

It does clean the side because it seems that when it is retracted, it blends with the bodywork.
