How does a typical car company get the 0-60 mph figures for a car.
do they do 0-60 on a rolling road, so they get faster as no wind resistance, or do they drive it for real? if so is it running on fumes with nothing in car except spare wheel??
Yes a lot of them nowadays are theoretical simulation results. Honda are notoriously conservative for instance - my car is manufacturer time of 6.4 seconds but many magazines have had 5.5 out of it.Michiba wrote:some are actually just calculated estimates aren't they? based on power/torque, weight, gearing etc.
Reaction to what? It's not like they race between the lights. It would be sensible to start the timing when the car starts. I'm sure there are telemetry systems that can do it.nae wrote:and unlike a drag strip they wont include reaction time
