if there are any doubts about how little the suspension is actually moving....

the wings and everything are shaking like crazy, but the actual movement of pushrod and what not is minute...

Oh yeah. Locked his brakes and flatspotted the tire.

What flatspot? You wathed the second video on the page right? The one with the overhead view.

LH went through the chicane faster than the superior RB5 car even though he entered later. masterful driving. Vettel can learn a thing or two about braking and cornering from the video.

i thought formula one wings cannot flex/move? why do i see all teams' wings move. I think they should reinforce the front wing struts. or have a solid standardized support. ballast? i dunno... can someone please clarify why these things move? when they shouldn't move. I know moving at those speeds in those frames, it will move, but if you see the Toyota's front end plates. they are almost hitting the other side of the end plate.

They move and hopefully they do. You have to allow flexibility or else your wings would break and downforce would be lost at the sligthest bump.

They simply have some deflection/bend limits stated in the rules.

Ah, the second video.
Yeah, that looked good.
But there's no info whether both were on flying laps, and suspension setup might be different.

This year has been a very clear indication that Lewis in slow corners is very good. Ive been very impressed.

But was this year an indication that he sucks in high-speed corners?
Don't get me wrong, he is great driver, but why is it always that when his car suits him all the success is because of him and when otherwise it's all down to car...

All I am saying is the guy has got sensational speed in the slow stuff.

Once the aero kicks in it is all about the car, but in the slow stuff it is more about the mechanical grip, and the driver can have a greater influence. Especially if its a bad car, a driver can work around the problems at slower speeds when the cars inherent lack of grip is less apparent. Your a Jenson fan like me arnt you Timbo?? Look back to France 07. Jenson was pulling sector times comparable to the leaders, I am still amazed to this day how he managed to be so damn quick that day! Its similar to this

We have seen it occasionally with Alonso this year too, in the slower stuff he has been up there. Im not saying success is down to either him or the car, nothing of the sort, just that he has impressed me on several occasions this season.

This movement is probably not ideal but I'm guessing that in these particular corners where they throw the cars over the curbs that aero is not so critical. You dont see the guys throw the cars over the curbs in Eau Rouge or becketts where downforce is most critical

For the rules, the wings are tested under 'static' conditions which is effectively at a frequency of 0Hz. When you force the car at some frequency its effectic stiffness drops until you force it at its natural frequency at which point it has almost no 'stiffness'.

When an F1 car bounces across the serrations on the curbs, they put a pretty high frequency force input onto the whole car and the effective stiffness drops and the wings wobble around like a spring.

Adding ballast would lower the natural frequency but I doubt it would be put right on the tips of the wings as it would increase the MOI of the whole car.

The toyota endplate was particularly impressive. I wouldn't think they move like that on every corner though.
