F1 engine electicity

Hi there

First of all I am honored to be a member of this website.
I am a student of mechanical engineering in Ljubljana (SLO-EU).
My profession branch are ICE's (internal combustion engines),and I have never seen a site with so many usefull info.It's really nice,and you all should be very proud. =D> =D> =D>

My question is:
Does an F1 engine have an alternator? I have many pictures of these engines and I never seen an alternator,or anything similar.If yes,where is it placed,and if no where does the nececary electrical power come from?

F1 cars run alternators driven off the engine. They tend to be installed low down on the right hand side of the engine amongst the oil water & hydraulic pumps. They are tiny, but generate all the power needed for the cars electronics.

this is of a BMW P80 used in 2001

you can see the two small bits a the bottom, ones an oil pump if im not mistaken and the others the alternator
