what engine did you say ?
to the optimist a glass is half full ; to the pessimist a glass is half empty ; to the F1 engineer the glass is twice as big as it needs to be

For those of you lacking telepathic powers today....

Peter Sauber and BMW have agreed a deal whereby Sauber will buy back his team and BMW will pay for all the redundancies required to make it workable.

I assume it will still be Ferarri powered as Sauber has a good relationship with them and is the one that got agreement earlier in the year.

This is bitter-sweet with the rumours of Toyota F1 on-selling its entry to someone else.. :(

What an absolute mess BMW have made of this. The Sauber buyback should have been announced as soon as BMW was pulling out & the Concorde Agreement signed.

28 cars have already been rejected by teams, and the FIA can't override that for 2010 unfortunately.

The teams can override it but only if it is unanimous

Williams was against Quadbak or whoever that mystery group is, not against the team competing. Was it only Williams blocking?

I think the FIA were blocking it as they could smell a rat.

It's no secret that the guy behind Qadbak is dodgy as hell so all the teams that also were unimpressed with that deal were totally justified.

Sauber obviously need to sort this out because Toyota are rumored to sell their team to Stefan GP. Only one of those teams can get the thirteenth place on the grid. I hope it will be Peter Sauber.

BTW, it was the USF1 team that voted against Sauber taking the 14th slot together with Williams.

Well, I for one would welcome the return of the blue cars.

Hopefullly Toyota will be gone. even a slimmed down Sauber with one year old engines will be better that the Toyota team is and ever will be.

Good to see a proper F1 guy back on the grid again, and a propper F1 team at heart.

But on a side note with Quadbak, the Football Associassion/Football League has asked Nottingham County for clarification again on their ownership after the FIA smellt a rat, as Quadbak own Notts County as well. Means they might forfit their fit and propper persons rule now as a person convicted of fraud cannot hold ownership of a Football Club at any level of the sport in England.

Yep, they blocked the 14th slot, reguardless of who wanted it... the 13th slot freed by Toyota was never blocked by the teams.

Good news, it would be great if Peter and his team got a spot on the grid. Sorry for asking, I've missed a lot lately it seems, why is the 14th place on the grid blocked?

Cause there is only space in the pits for 13 teams...
Cause there are 13 teams under the new Concorde agreement...
and because another team dilutes the money pot a little more...

I believe once the quitting of the team currently called Toyota is officially signed off then the place can be offered. Sauber have already been officially made the "14th" team, and will get position 13 once the Toyota team are null and voided.

I'm guessing there are a lot of legalities to plough through before anything can be done. Toyota may be sued for quitting after signing up...
